We created using different boxes and labeled what 3D shapes were used! Here are a few of our creations.

Here are some of the great things that happened in February! Students engaged in some fun shape activities, our McDonalds centre, and starting at the end of February, our Boutique d'animaux! We also enjoyed watching the Olympic opening ceremonies and had lots of fun on Valentine's day! Stay tuned for our photos for March thus far! We really enjoyed playing in the snow and painting it on Friday, January 31! After we were finished exploring, we entered the school and warmed up with some hot chocolate and Timbits! Yum! Our baking day was moved to Monday, January 20th because Mme Van forgot some ingredients to make the banana bread on Thursday!
The children thoroughly enjoyed measuring, mixing, and eating our chocolate chip banana bread! Merci Rodney for the great idea! We have enjoyed planning our baking activities, and are hoping for some additional ideas since most of the suggestions received are cupcakes, cookies, and candy! We are hoping that you have a favourite healthy recipe you can send in for us to try, or come and make a dish with our students! Our baking days will take place every two weeks on Day 5 in the afternoons. The students have decided they would like to have a McDonalds for their dramatic play centre. If you visit McDonalds and could send in any bags or happy meal boxes for our centre, we would greatly appreciate it! Also, if you have not had the chance, please send in a clipping from a box or flyer with a word your child recognizes (examples could be Walmart, McDonalds, Cheerios or Goldfish). December 16-19
Monday and Tuesdsay we will be continuing some gingerbread fun by assembling two gingerbread villages! We are also planning on making salt dough ornaments. WE COULD USE SOME SALT AS OUR SUPPLY HAS ALMOST RUN OUT! We are looking forward to Holiday Activity Day on Wednesday, and Pyjama Day on Thursday. Kale's mom came to visit today (Thursday, December 12) and made some delicious fudge with the students (and left candy canes too!). This is their Christmas tradition. Kale did a great job describing the process. The ingredients used were chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla, topped with crushed Candy Canes! Heated in the microwave, and then placed in the fridge for a few hours. Each student received their fudge to eat at home in their "sac en plastique". Merci à la maman de Kale!! Students enjoyed making Gingerbread men "Les bonhommes au pain d'épices" this week as well. Find our process below. We went for a (short) nature walk this morning. We spoke about the trees and the leaves that had fallen and why, if there were any (wild) animals around outside, and what else we noticed around us. Many of the students pointed out nests in the trees and the snow that had fallen and the temperature. We talked about why it snowed and did not rain instead. Here are some of the students comments: Kyran: I see a birds nest Sophia: There's snow on the tree Elijah: When winter comes the leaves fall off the trees because its winter and the flowers fall off. Frankie-Jo: Here's snow on the ground. We made english muffin pizzas this past Wednesday. We read a book called "La pizza", which included our recipe. The students thoroughly enjoyed spreading their sauce, and adding their toppings to their own pizzas. It was our most enjoyed cooking activity to date! We visited a website today, and explored letter names and colours. There are some other activities your child may explore at home on this site as well. The students really enjoyed this activity on our smart board!
