Students are asked to wear a shirt with a pattern "une suite" on Friday (class B) and Monday (class A). We will also be doing some fun patterning activities in class to wrap up our unit.
Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13 we made some Spring Cookies! The students were very excited to choose their shape, and decorate their cookies! They helped roll out the dough, bring the cookies to the kitchen, and they watched as we put them in 400F oven! We went back to the class, put on the timer for 7 minutes, and waited! When the time had come, we walked to the kitchen to take them out. We talked about how they were too hot to carry back to the class and how they needed to cool "refroidir". In the afternoon, the cookies were ready to decorate! Students helped mix the colour into the icing, and then, they were able to decorate their cookies. Of course, they couldn't wait to eat them afterwards.
The students were so enthusiastic and engaged in this activity. And they were very creative with their decorations! Unfortunately, we were unable to make and bake our Sugar Cookies last week. Thursday and Friday of this week (the 12th and 13th) we will be making some Spring themed Sugar Cookies! If you would like to assist us either in the morning or afternoon (afternoon we will need more help with decorating!) Please let me know via note, phone call, or you may respond to this post! Merci!
Patterns!Students In Kindergarten are asked to identify, extend, reproduce, and create repeating patterns through investigation, using a variety of materials and actions. They are also asked to identify and escribe informally the repeating patterns in everyday contexts (e.g., patterns in nature, clothing, floor tiles, literature, schedules, etc.) We have begun investigating patterns using materials and actions. Here are some examples of what we've done thus far. Discovering/sorting living & non living thingsStudents in Kindergarten are expected to sort and classify groups of living and non-living things in their own way. We have explored this by observing nature at the beginning of March and at the end of March, sorting picture cards in class, as well as photos on the school smart board. Here are a few examples:
