My apologizes for the delay in posting our classroom activities!
In mathematics we are continuing to collect objects or data and make representations of our observations using concrete graphs. We are also responding to and posing questions based on our data collection. We have been completing classroom surveys and comparing manipulatives. See examples below! Over the next few weeks we will focus more on using ordinal numbers, one-to-one correspondence, and counting. We will also be investigating different measuring tools.

Science and investigation are always extremely popular in our classroom. Students are being encouraged to select and use materials to carry out their own explorations. They are also being asked to communicate results and findings from individual and group investigations
We were fortunate to receive a couple of corn ears from Pépé's pumpkin patch in October. After a few weeks, students decided to pull off all the kernels. After exploring them by counting, moving and shaking them, one of our Monday/Wednesday students thought we should make popcorn. After all, they were hard. We made our way to the staff room to find out if we could make popcorn.
What happens when we place some old markers in a cup of water? They turn colour of course, and what better way to explore this on our light table! Using white crayon, we wrote on paper, and painted it to reveal our "secret messages".
Marbles, corn, and paper towel rolls were placed at the sensory table.
In visual arts, students are expected to demonstrate personal interests and a sense of accomplishment in their works. They are also asked to explore a variety of tools, materials and processes. Using some of our old corn, our B class began creating "noise makers/maracas" to have a "fiesta"!
Thank you parents for sending in materials so that your child may easily discuss their heritage/cultural backgrounds (and how they celebrate birthdays, holidays, etc.)
We are also discussing weather and how people adapt to the weather (including sports/activities, clothing etc.)
Our pyjama day this week was a great way to relax and watch a movie! We viewed "The Emperor's New Groove" en français. Of course, it was a great opportunity for our students to respond critically to animated works (Students stated what they liked and didn't like about the movie, what is it about the cartoon that made them want to watch it, and whom the animated feature was made for). Students will share their opinions on posters of animated films over the next couple of weeks, and whom they believe would like to watch it and why.
