This past week students explored data management activities, including graphing objects. Thank you, parents, for completing the shoe graph with your child at home! Please encourage your child to create surveys as well. Some of our classroom surveys included students asking each other their favourite colours, animals, season, fruits, and vegetables.
Students also explored different elements of design in art, and processes of their own choice to create visual art forms. Students also are assessed on whether they demonstrate a sense of accomplishment in art.
In science, students are assessed on whether they investigate various materials that have different properties, and whether they are able to communicate results and findings from individual and group investigations. We explored the properties of water an corn oil, and what occured when we added food colouring. What an interesting experiment!
Students have thoroughly enjoyed playing with our gel balls! After placing them in water, the red colouring dispersed into the water and they became clear! Therefore, when placed in clear water they were invisible!
As students are engaged in our many activity centres, they are observed and assessed on whether they are interacting cooperatively with others, and whether they are able to take turns. Specialized vocabulary (including use of French vocabulary) is also our focus. Group activities are a great way to observe this!
